Aneurysm repair is a critical procedure performed to treat weakened or bulging areas in the wall of an artery, most commonly the aorta. If left untreated, an aneurysm can enlarge and eventually rupture, leading to life-threatening internal bleeding. Two primary approaches are used for repair: endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and open surgical repair, depending on the location, size, and condition of the aneurysm as well as the patient's overall health.

Endovascular repair is a minimally invasive technique where a stent graft is inserted through small incisions in the groin and guided to the aneurysm site using imaging. It is associated with faster recovery and fewer complications. Open aneurysm repair, on the other hand, involves a larger incision to directly access and replace the damaged artery segment with a synthetic graft. While more invasive, it remains the preferred option for certain complex cases. Both methods aim to prevent rupture, relieve symptoms, and improve long-term outcomes with careful post-operative monitoring.
